For more than three years now, the country has been observing the Muslim holiday Eidl Fitr as a National Holiday. But what is Eidl Fitr? What is Ramadan? How do Muslims celebrate this Feast of Celebration? Very few non-Muslims can relate to the significance of this event, yet it shares very important lessons on acquiring the virtue of patience and remembrance of God.
On 21-26 October 2006, the Young Moro Professionals Network, Inc. in cooperation with the Department of Tourism, the World Islamic Call Society, Manila Government, and the Office on Muslim Affairs will hold the first ever International Ramadan Fair at Clamshell 1, Intramuros, Manila. The said event is aimed at highlighting strong Islamic principles and values in the Muslim Community especially during the time of Ramadan, provide a venue for appreciation and understanding of Islamic civilizations, history, communities, and contemporary issues and practices and to enhance the perspective of Muslims and Non-Muslims alike on the tenets of Islam, promoting universal principles and values of pluralism, excellence, and justice.

According to Ms. Baibonn Sangid, Chairperson of the YMPN, Inc. the event highlights are as follows Moro Artists Exhibition/Calligraphy, Film Showing, Moro Youth Assembly, Moro Children’s Day, International Halal Food Festival, Halal Products Exhibition, ASEAN Night, Book Exhibition, Islamic Governance Forum, Qur’an Reading, Inter-Religious Dialogue, Seminars and Symposia, Halal Cooking Demo, Job Fair, Prayer for Muslims, and Iftar (Breaking of Fast). “Everyone should be there to witness this historical event. Testimonials

"There are certain developments that respond to increasing globalization in general and the post-September 11 war on terrorism in particular. An organization that spans both Mindanao and Manila is the Young Moro Professionals. Well-educated -- often doctors, lawyers, journalists, or others with advanced degrees -- this younger generation is qualified to compete in a globalized economy but also feels compelled to speak out on issues concerning Muslims in the Philippines."
