About YMPN

Young Moro Professionals Network, Inc.In August 2000, a group of young Muslims in the Philippines envisioned a network of young Muslim professionals that promote volunteerism, use their own resources, talents, education & training, and work collectively or even individually, to help other Muslims in unfortunate circumstances.

They formally established the Young Moro Professionals (YMP) in a group-sponsored dinner-for-a-cause. The proceeds of the dinner went to help the victims of Estrada Administration’s All-Out War Policy in Mindanao at that time.

In November of the same year, YMP launched its website: the Bangsamoro.com which became the medium by which the YMP members communicate with each other, and the world.

By year 2002, YMP renewed its commitment:

  • Re-launched bangsamoro.com as an alternative media.
  • Focused on the promotion of educational scholarship and employment opportunities among others.

The YMPN was incorporated and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 2003.

By year 2005-2006, YMPN, Inc. membership grew to more than 200 active and inactive young Muslim professionals here and abroad.

Testimonials

"There are certain developments that respond to increasing globalization in general and the post-September 11 war on terrorism in particular. An organization that spans both Mindanao and Manila is the Young Moro Professionals. Well-educated -- often doctors, lawyers, journalists, or others with advanced degrees -- this younger generation is qualified to compete in a globalized economy but also feels compelled to speak out on issues concerning Muslims in the Philippines."
